Our new project!

Contextualizing Functional Family Therapy in Puerto Rico

We are thrilled to announce our new project, supported by the Annie E. Casey Foundation, in which we are contextualizing Functional Family Therapy (FFT) to the Puerto Rican culture. FFT is an evidence-based practice that has proven effective in treating children and adolescents experiencing emotional and behavioral problems and their families.

We aim to spread the work of Functional Family Therapy and evidence-based practices in the child welfare context. By contextualizing FFT to the Puerto Rican culture, we aim to provide culturally responsive services that meet the unique needs of families in this community. We recognize the importance of acknowledging cultural differences and how they impact the delivery and effectiveness of interventions.

The Annie E. Casey Foundation has a long history of supporting projects that improve outcomes for vulnerable children and families. We are honored to have their support for this project. Their commitment to evidence-based practices aligns with our own values and mission to provide effective interventions that improve the lives of families in need.

We are excited to embark on this project and look forward to its potential impact in improving outcomes for Puerto Rican families involved in the child welfare system. By adapting evidence-based practices like FFT to be more culturally responsive, we can ensure that all families receive the support they need to thrive.

This project continues FFT Partners' work in thoughtfully and purposefully expanding the reach of Functional Family Therapy through our innovative contextualization, systematic and data-based implementational, and continuous quality improvement work that helps FFT evolve.
